Lil Leo Needs a Furever Home:

Image083020141355551 IMG_1901

Leo the Lionheart has come to Lone Star Westie Rescue to look for his furever den. He is approximately 3-4 years old. He has very little ferocious traits or what we all like to call Westietude. He is the sweetest and most well behaved little Westie on the planet and to top it off he is potty trained. Leo has made a smooth transition into his foster home.

Leo is looking for a furever den that will mesh well with his laid back attitude and be able to provide belly rubs throughout the day and at random times. A good belly rub seems to be his favorite activity. His foster mum tells us that if Leo sees a hand he is quick to flip over for a rub. Leo’s foster mom thinks Leo might melt because he is so cute and sweet. We are pretty sure he is working the Westie charm with his furever mum because she also stated that Leo’s button eyes burst with love. Her words not ours.

Leo is up to date on his shots, potty trained, neutered, microchipped and has clean fangs. He is read for his next adventure.

*If you are interested in adopting Lil Leo, please fill out the Online Application on our Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/LoneStarWestieRescue or you can complete an Online Application on our website at www.lswr.us.

Rooney a/k/a “The Heart Thief”

20140828_110623 20140828_110619

Rooney stole the heart of Lone Star Westie Rescue volunteers and now he has gone and done it, again.

He has a new “furever” family and many new friends and neighbors to go along with them. We hear that he was greeted throughout the day by his new social network and that his basket full of toys grew substantially throughout the afternoon. We are calling this the beginnings of being spoiled, but Rooney prefers the term charisma.

He chose to rescue a family that lives on Lake Granbury and is anticipating his life as a boat dog once the rains come. We all hope for that soon. In the meantime, he has a golf cart to ride in that will help him develop his sea legs. “The Heart Thief” will have all kinds of new adventures.

Lone Star Westie Rescue volunteers said that, although they left a piece of their hearts with Rooney, it made it a lot easier knowing he is in great hands and will be loved.

Cheers to you Rooney, cheers to you.

Yuki Needs a Furever Home:

Adopted (1/23/15)DSCN1153 DSCN1151 DSCN1140 DSCN1116

My name is Yuki. I am an eight year old owner surrender because my family fell on hard times and couldn’t give me the care I deserve. Luckily, Lone Star Westie Rescue came to my rescue. My foster mummy says that I am the sweetest, happiest, most perfect little girl. I am spayed, micro-chipped, and fully vetted. In about 10 days I will get my fangs cleaned and polished. I do have “dry eye” but foster mummy says I am a really good girl when she is doing my eye medicine routine. Keep checking on my progress. Now that I am in the safe arms of Lone Star Westie Rescue volunteers I can work on my getting back my “Westietude.” When my Westietude comes back I will probably have super hero skills like Wonder Woman.

I have been working on my cute look, sweet eye looks, sorry I rolled in poo look, and all the other Westie superhero skills I might need in the future. I have plenty of time to perfect my skills because I won’t get to rescue a human until my fangs are polished pearly white and clean. If you’re interested in adopting a future Westie superhero, get your application in now so Lone Star Westie Rescue can vet you, too.

Jackson Needs a Furever Home

Hello, Friends! I’m Jackson!

These Texas summers sure are hot. I know because I was found wandering the streets in the heat. A man picked me up and took me to a safe place, but no one came to take me back home, so Lone Star Westie Rescue saved me.

I am about 2 years old, a Westie imposter and a whopping 7 lbs! I need to be fattened up a bit, but that doesn’t slow me down! I have a lot of energy, especially in the morning after I wake up.

My new family will have to be patient and eager to train and coach me in proper behavior. I’m eager to please and I’m very smart and curious about learning. My foster Dad played a game with me called “sit” and in 5 minutes I was the winner. I even remembered how to play it again the next day! My new family will also need lots of time to interact with me because I’m more than just a lap dog – I am Super Dog, but I don’t have a cape yet.

I like other dogs and neighborhood patrols are the highlight of my day!

If you’re looking for a great little companion like me, why don’t you fill out the adoption application and let’s become a family!

Xoxo,
Jackson

DUFFY’S HAPPY TAIL:

Duffy & Samantha IMG_1892

The good news just keeps pouring in. We are pleased to report that Mr. Duffy charmed his way into a new “furever” home. He has a new fur-sister and a full human staff to care for his every need. It’s been reported that Mr. Duffy has spotted many toys throughout the Palace and his personal chef is providing him with high quality nutrition so he will have the required energy to patrol his lands. Squirrels in the area have been notified of his arrival and we hear that there has been a mass exit of the little creatures.

Mr. Duffy is forever grateful to his all the volunteers at Lone Star Westie Rescue and especially to his foster mum who saw the Prince beneath the fur.

CASSIE NEEDS A FUREVER HOME (Adopted 9/14)

cassiepicframe

We have profiled Cassie before, but wanted to remind everyone that his sweet girl is still looking for her furever home. Cassie is what we like to call a “Westie Survivor.” She was a puppy mill rescue so she is very active exploring all the new sites and sounds that she wasn’t exposed to in her previous life. She is about 7 years young and is loving and sweet. Her foster mom tells us that she is good on the leash and enjoys her foster siblings. She is spayed, microchipped and all her shots are current. Cassie has adapted quickly to her new lifestyle and is just looking for that place to finally call home.

If you are interested in adopting Cassie, please complete our Online Application at http://www.lswr.us.

North Texas Giving Day:

poster_louie001

Who remembers our sweet little Louie. Well, as Lone Star Westie Rescue gears up for North Texas Giving Day we wanted to share some of our past foster stories and get your comments. We all know that caring for a beloved pet can be expensive. How much do you spend a year on pet care?

As you can see from Louie’s picture below he came into Lone Star Westie Rescue with severe skin issues. With the proper medical care and the love and support of volunteers Louie was able to make a full recovery. Unfortunately, it is often the case that Lone Star Westie Rescue’s adoption fees don’t cover the full cost of medical care and that is where we rely on the generous support of the community. As North Texas Giving Day approaches, please consider donating to Lone Star Westie Rescue so that we can help Westies in need.
#NTXGivingDay #lonestarwestierescue #helpingwestiesinneed

Here is a wonderful update from Louie’s furever mum:

“This is a pic if Louie’s first grooming last winter. He now has a full coat of hair as does his tail! Louie is a character; loving and adorable. He loves to love and be loved. He loves Clementine and always has to nuzzle her every morning before going out.

We have pet names for him; Louis, baby boy and of course Louie Louie. He’s learned to obey (most of the time), loves to chase bugs and play with his toys and run through the house with Clem.

Louie is a joy, a delight———He’s perfect!”

North Texas Giving Day

Your support throughout the year is what gives Lone Star Westie Rescue the resources to help Westies like Patch. It was only with your generous donations that our volunteers were able to transport him from San Antonio to DFW where he was able to undergo surgery for his eye injury. This is only one of many stories where the Lone Star Westie Rescue is able to give Westies the help they need and then place them into loving homes.

On September 18th from 6 am to midnight Lone Star Westie Rescue will participate in the North Texas Giving Day. We will be providing more information as the date approaches. In the meantime, please take some time to check out #NTXGivingDay and Lone Star Westie Rescue thanks you for your continued support.

SASHA LOOKING FOR HER FUREVER HOME:

photo 4 photo 3 photo 2 photo 1 photo 2

Sasha is looking for her “furever” home.  She is about eight (8) years old and is a Westie mix or as we like to say at Lone Star Westie Rescue, she is a westie impostor.  And, she is doing a great impersonation.  She gets along great with other dogs and enjoys time alone.  She loves the ole belly rub, short walks, patrolling for those pesky squirrels, and just being all around awesome.  Her favorite treats are apples and carrots.  Sasha has a dynamic physical quality in that half her face looks westie anD the other half looks like a jack russell.  If your looking for that perfect companion to keep you company, Sasha is your girl.

If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please fill out the Online Application on our Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/LoneStarWestieRescue or you can complete an Online Application on our website at http://www.lswr.us.

McGEE’S HAPPY TAIL

phone 7-30-2014 062 ht_mcgee002 phone 7-30-2014 160 phone 7-30-2014 085

Here is another happy tail about a special little boy that came into Lone Star Westie Rescue very timid and shy. With the help of one of our foster families he was able to come out of his shell and learn to trust. His foster mum and dad worked hard to help him learn to trust. It took time before is foster mum said he was ready, but would need a patient and loving home that would give him the space and time needed to reach his full potential. Well, we have received a report from his new “furever” family and we couldn’t be happier to learn of McGee’s new adventures. Below is the report we received from McGee’s “furever” family.

“Here’s an update on McGee. He’s advancing wonderfully. Still shy of new things, but we’ve been working on his fear of men. His Dad has worked diligently with him and he now greets daddy at the door and does a puppy dance for him and asked to be petted by him. McGee hangs out on the couch with his Dad some and even lets our son pet him when he visits. McGee is still a little skittish of noises he doesn’t recognize, but he is doing well on sit, stay, and come commands. He’s learned the fine art of squirrel patrol and his new sis Abby and him chase them on a regular basis. They love sunbathing in the back yard. He’s got a favorite ball, he plays with a lot and does a cute puppy paw dance around it and entertains himself. Abby and him chase each other around the house like a racetrack it’s hilarious. Love’s going on long car rides. McGee and Abby will be taking their first vacation at the beach next month. Can’t wait to see how they like it. We all have been blessed by McGee’s warm and loving heart. He’s an absolute gem.”

Woof’s and Westie kisses
From McGee!

Fluffy’s Happy Tail

ht_fluffy001_Fotor

What a busy day here at Lone Star Westie Rescue reporting on all our adopted fur babies. We are pleased to report another happy ending and this one is especially a happy tail.

Fluffy was surrendered to Lone Star Westie Rescue last summer at the age of 11. Two of our dedicated volunteers drove to Austin to retrieve Fluffy and her senior brother. Once Fluffy’s “furever” mom took a look at her it was love and Fluffy was taken into her new furever home.

What makes this story special is that Fluffy is now the new therapy dog for Girls To Women Health and Wellness in Dallas, Texas.

What a great ambassador Fluffy is for all the senior dogs out there waiting for their “furever” homes.

You Rock Fluffy!

GRACIE’S HAPPY TAIL:

I love my new furever home.

I love my new furever home.

Gracie is doing very well.  She is learning manners, learning that potty outside means good girl and a delicious treat and sleeping on the big bed beats sleeping in a crate.  Though when she gets tired from all the day’s shenanigans, she lays in her crate, door open, and takes a nap.  She loves to play outside and is an impressive grasshopper hunter! She is an adventurer and dives under the water to play ball in her kiddie pool.  She adores her big brother, Jax, and follows him everywhere.  She will “help” him with his toy by chewing on the opposite end… while he is chewing his end.  She is a smart, silly, loving little pup and she has brought so much joy to me exactly when I needed it most.  She is a blessinge and I love her to bits!  (We all do.)

MITZI’S HAPPY TAIL:

hp_mitzi002 ht_mitzi001

Mitzi’s furever mom reports that, “Mitzi is settling in and I think she realizes this is home.  She is very affectionate and such a joy to be around.  At first she was on her guard when we played on the floor, but no more!  She likes to go for rides, car or golf cart.  She’s asleep on my lap now.  She likes our recliners and when we sit in them, she moves to the sofa.  That seems to be her space!”

Hope Update:

hope200 hope201 hope202

We have great news about our special Hope.  She had a vet checkup this past week and she is looking fabulous.  She received her last set of vaccinations and can now get a grooming.  She is still a little sensitive when being picked up, but her foster mum is working hard to get her used to it.  It has been confirmed that with all the prior ear infections not being treated she is probably deaf.  But she is getting along great in her foster home.  She weighs 25 pounds and will be getting a dental and a benign cyst on her belly removed in the next couple of weeks.

Hope’s foster mom says she has more energy these days and follows her and her Westies around the house and yard.  Hope still enjoys her siestas and there are plenty of beds around her foster home.  LSWR is excited about Hope’s future and thanks her super foster mum for loving and caring for such a great little girl.

P.S. Hope’s foster mum reports that Hope sleeps with her tongue sticking out and that it is the cutest thing on the planet.

Lost Westie (Found)

winston

I’ve lost my dog in Willis Texas while traveling from Houston to Dallas.  Winston pulled out of his collar around 1.00 PM Sat 08/02/2014 when we stopped for a restroom break near I-45 and FM 1097 in Willis TX.  Winston is 1-2 year old, about 15 lbs, neutered and fully vaccinated.  His right rear leg is stiff from an old injury and he scared of stranger.  Winston came to us from the Westie and Scottie Rescue of Houston.  Please contact us at 713-392-9931 or 817-909-6899 if you hear anything.

Also if you have any contacts around that area or have any tips of how I can get more help, please let me know.

Thank you very much in advance on your help!

Snoopy Needs a “Furever” Home (Adopted)

snoopy001 snoopy002 snoopy003

Hello world, my name is Snoopy.  Life is hard when you are on your own but with Lone Star Westie Rescue life can get pretty awesome.  They took me to the doggie doctor first thing and got me all checked out and did all kinds of stuff to me but in the end I got an A+.  They say I’m ready for my new furever home right now.  Remember I am a 2 yrs old and still considered a puppy.  I have lots of energy and love playing with my foster brothers, love toys, and chasing squirrels. I need a family that has lots of energy, too.  Thank you Lone Star Westie Rescue for saving my life and I can’t wait for my furever home.

XOXO Snoopy
