Simba – ADOPTED

I’m Simba. Let me tell you a little bit about my story.

I am one of 3 adorable puppies that were left at a shelter on 12/16/22. The shelter was at capacity and asked LSWR if they could help take us in. They didn’t want us to end up being Christmas presents. Of course, LSWR said yes!! I am a Schnauzer mix puppy and I’m about 4-5 months young.

I’m all vaccinated and will be neutered soon. I am a super sweet, playful, cuddly and affectionate puppy. I get along great with big and small pups.

I LOVE to play and run around outside, help in the garden and I would love to have a furry friend and toys to keep me busy. I have mastered potty-training skills and sleep all through the night. My foster mom says I’m so sweet and I love to cuddle. What more could you ask for?

If you have the time, patience, and are looking for a great puppy, please visit LSWR.us to complete an online application and ask for me Simba.

Puppy kisses,

Simba

Dexter – ADOPTED

Hello everyone, meet Dexter.  Dexter’s family surrendered him because they had 4 small children and they didn’t have enough time for Dexter.  His prior family had him since he was a puppy but made the right decision to surrender him.  Dexter is a 3 year-old Miniature Schnauzer who gets along great with other dogs (big and small) and even cats.  He’s in a foster home with a couple of Australian Shephards, one who is deaf and a cat.  He plays so well with them all.  Sudden and fast movements seem to startle him at first but comes around very quickly.

This little boy has lots of energy and he is very friendly and a total sweetheart.  He is neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated.  He is ready for his new family might that be you?

Please visit lswr.us and complete an online application.

JASPER ADOPTED

Hello folks, my name Jasper I just turned 8 years this past February.  My birthdate is 2/14/2013. My human mom passed-away and I’ve been living with a family member.  It was a difficult decision but due to their busy and hectic schedule they decided to contact LSWR to find me a new home.

I am a very sweet Westie boy, gentle and a cuddler.  I love EVERYONE!  I love attention, being petted, sitting next to humans and I love being outdoors.  I love going for walks and I love to chat with all the people and pups on the walking trail.  Squeaky toys, rope toys, tennis balls, I love them ALL!!  I’m also very smart, I know sit, stay, come and I walk great on a leash and I ride very well in the car.  I know all about doggie doors too.  I recently had a dental cleaning in Dec-2020 and I’m fully vaccinated.

I’m a super great looking Westie, all 20 pounds of me.  I occasionally have a few tee-tee accidents in the house, not super often, so I will need someone that is home more to give me potty breaks.  I’ve lived with another Westie gal, so I am perfectly fine with another furry friend.  If you have the time for this sweet Westie boy, I promise, we’ll be great companions.  Please visit lswr.us and read all about me.  I will be waiting patiently.

Cala – ADOPTED

My name is Cala and I’m looking for my prefect home.  You see, came in with a group of 9 Westies from a puppy mill a few months back.  I got fully vetted, spayed, vaccinated and had a dental and I’m certified as a very healthy and active Westie girl.  I have been in a foster home with 4 other pups, Westies and a Cairn Terrier and let me tell you, I’m just a wee small Westie, the smallest of the bunch.  But this little Westie wants to rule everyone and be the boss so I’m thinking I just might want a home where I am the only pet and get all the attention!

Here is what I need:  A loving home in the DFW geographic area that my sponsor Lone Star Westie Rescue serves.  That area includes all of Texas, and most cities in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.  I need to be your only pet because I am very high attention demanding and very territorial.  I love people, but my foster siblings are competitors for your attention, and my territory, which I don’t love so much.  No cats or kids and no apartments please!   A home with previous terrier experience would be a big PLUS.  I am super cute and love to be spoiled and snuggled, but you know us Westies, we can be stubborn, and avid outdoor chasers of squirrels, mice, birds, and escape artists, it’s in our DNA.   So, with previous terrier experience you will already know and appreciate the expectations of this classic terrier behavior – WESTIETUDE.  I am bit on the small side for our breed, part of what makes us so super cute, but I can escape right out of the iron fencing so a secure fence is a MUST.  I just need patience, understanding, obedience training and potty-training reinforcement.  I’m smart, and get the new routines with kind reinforcement, but so much is still new to me so patience please.  Please understand I’ve never been inside a house or seen a television or had a potty routine before I came to rescue.  My Westitude is carrying me through splendidly though!

If  you think you’re the perfect family for me, visit Lone Star Westie Rescue website www.lswr.us and read about the adoption process, qualifications and costs.  If you are interested in applying for consideration for adoption, then fill out and submit the electronic application fully to begin the process.  You will be contacted within 5-7 days by one of our volunteers.  Please note LSWR is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and does not have a public shelter. All the rescues for adoption are fostered in private homes.  Thank you for understanding that only adopters meeting adoption criteria can be invited to meet the dogs.

XOXO CALA

Cassie – Adopted

Hello everyone, my name is Cassie! I joined LSWR just a few weeks ago.  I started off in pretty rough shape after spending most of my years as a litter mom, but I’m so glad that is behind me now and I’m feeling my best.

I’m estimated to be about 5 years young and in great health.  I was so shaggy and matted upon arrival that I needed a short haircut, but I’m not worried, my gorgeous hair and Westie skirt will grow back nicely!  I came in with some skin issues but those are healing with medicated baths, medications and some really good food.  I’m doing so much better now.  I’m microchipped and vaccinated and will soon be spayed and have a dental, and then I’m good as new.

I could use a bit of work with potty training for the first few weeks in any new home, but once I understand where I am and am not allowed to potty, I’ll be really good at it! I’m very smart and learning so many new things.  I’m a very sweet, active and beautiful girl who loves humans.  I have learned how to walk on a leash and love going for walks now.  I’m in a foster home with a senior Westie female so I would probably do best in a home where I am an only pet or a younger furry companion.  I would love a family who would adore this Westie princess.  Could that be you?

Please visit lswr.us to complete an online application.

Happy Howie is looking for his Furever home – ADOPTED

Happy Howie,

Hello everyone, I’m Howard but you can call me Howie. I was wandering the streets and animal control picked me up and took me to the shelter where I waited for my owners to come, but they never did. A very nice LSWR volunteer came to save me and here I am.

I’m estimated to be about 1 year old and full of enthusiasm and puppy playfulness. I love fun at all costs. I have learned “no” and mostly listen but hey, I’m a young puppy. My foster mom says I’m super SMART and know some commands like “off”, “drop it” and “sit” is quite solid. I am in a foster home with a huge Great Dane and a few Westies and let me tell you, I LOVE the Great Dane!!!

I am pretty good about going in my crate and love going for walks. I’m so very young that I’m still learning the ropes when other pups don’t want to be messed with. I’m just all about playing and can play for hours. My foster family says I am AWESOME and will be a fabulous companion for a very lucky family!! I really want an active family that has time for me and has experience with young pups like me. I’m neutered, shots are current, microchipped and potty trained. I am a very happy and playful pup. If you have a spot in your heart for me, I will give you mine. Please visit lswr.us and submit your application.

XOXO

Howie

********Adopted********** The Sweetest! Ingrid & Greta

Ingrid & Greta here to tell you a bit about our story…

Our elderly owner passed away and we were taken to a local shelter. Thankfully, the shelter reached out to LSWR to ask if they could make room for us, and they welcomed us with open arms. We went straight to the vet and have checked out in good health but will need a dental soon.

We are microchipped and up to date on our vaccinations. The shelter believed we’d grown up together most of our lives so if you have a place in your heart and home for us  twinkies, we’d love to meet you. We are estimated to be about 8-9 years. Greta is a spunky chunky monkey (and her Westie head-tilt game is on point!), and I’m the petite one. Greta is very curious and active. As for me, well, I move at my own speed!

Please visit lswr.us to complete an online application.

XOXO Little Ingrid

****** Adopted***** Mr. Mikey!

Hello, friends!  Mikey here!

My last couple of weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind! I feel a little bit like Toto after the tornado… I’ve found myself in Oz and I’m ready to get home! Well, to my new, furever home, that is!

Somehow, a wee little guy like me ended up wandering the streets. Eventually, I ended up in the shelter, but no one came to get me… until LSWR stepped in!

The dogtors told my nice LSWR friends that I’m somewhere around 1-2 years old, but my foster mom says I’m likely on the younger side of that because I’m so spunky and have such beautiful little pearly white teeth! I am in great health, and I LOVE being social with other dogs and humans (mostly adults but older kids seem to be ok, too!). My foster buddy, Mac, is my new BFF, and my two Westie sisters are even ok, too! I’m so happy to be back with a family, and my foster mom is so happy – no accidents in the house for this guy here! I’m working on liking this whole kennel idea. It isn’t my most favorite thing at first, but after a while, I don’t mind taking a little snooze in there.

While I am loving my foster home and have enjoyed Oz, I’m ready to get to my new furever with my new furever family! I can’t wait to meet someone who will love me, care for me and continue to teach me the ropes (spoiler alert: I’m pretty easy to teach – I already have “sit” nailed and will even “dance” for treats!). I love the leash and going outside, especially if it’s sunny and I have a chance for some sunbathing. I have to say, a fenced yard where I can sun and play all day long is a must-have for me! I am a super happy boy and I have to admit, super cute too!

I’m vaccinated, neutered and microchipped, now I just need my new family.

I am very active and I love to walk and play, so I am looking for a family that is very active and will have lots of time to spend with me. If you’re looking for a young, spry, fun-loving, good-looking new friend, visit http://www.lswr.us to complete an application and mention me!

Gill – **** Adopted******

Hello everyone,

Am I just about the cutest little boy you have ever seen?  My name is Gill and I was picked up as a stray and taken to a shelter.  It’s a mystery to all of us how I could end up as a stray but here I am with LSWR. No one ever came to reclaim me but LSWR found me just in time and came for me.

I am a terrier puppy, approximately 14 weeks young and despite everything, I am a healthy, fun loving playful puppy.  I chase, run, play, and sleep for a while and then I start all over.  My foster mom says, “Gill, you are a ton of energy, in a little package”.  I am a quick learner and she also says I’m too DARN CUTE!  I walk pretty good on a leash and sometimes I think the leash is a toy but I’m learning fast.  My potty training skills are pretty-darn good for a puppy, my foster mom said I only had one potty accident on my first day of foster care.  I appear to be crate trained and I’m not too much of a barker.  I rarely bark or whine.  I can get distracted easily, as all puppies do so my new family will have to have time and patience with me.

I wish for a fun and caring family who will have lots of time to help me grow up.

Sweet Puppy Kisses, Gill

Dynamic Duo, Mattie and Baxter – Adopted

Our Mom recently passed away and we need a place to call our own.  We lived our whole life with her and she took great care of us, but we are the lucky ones because LSWR will find us another great home.   We are house trained, and we love toys and walk pretty good on a leash.  We are littermates about 4-5 years old and are a bonded pair, spayed/neutered, active and current on our shots.  Baxter loves to play fetch inside and outdoors and he listens well.  Me, well, I’m just a typical Westie girl who just wants to have fun.

This dynamic duo of happy Westies MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER!!  We will be perfect companions for someone who appreciates the incredible Westie spirit.   It will be a very LUCKY family who adopts us.  We are looking for a new “leash” on life, would you be our new family?

Please visit lswr.us and complete an online application.  Please note, LSWR does NOT SHIP our pets.

XOXO M&B

Playful Piper – Adopted

My life took quite the turn when my family could no longer keep me. But lucky for me, LSWR stepped in and I found myself in the home of a foster family. And because I’m just so “laid back” and “chill”, it was just another “day in the life”. At first, I kept hearing my foster family say how amazed they were at how seamless of a transition it was with me. Well, it was so easy because there are two other Westies in my home now and I decided that I would just follow their lead and fit right into the routine. I love having “the whiteys” (what my foster mom calls the other two) around. So for my forever family, I am pretty flexible as I can be the only dog or I’d also fit right in with other dog(s).

I am a male Westie, approximately 7-8 years old (according to the vet), micro-chipped, & house-trained. I am a bigger boy and solid. But I have dropped a few pounds since arriving at my foster home, and that’s because we play like crazy and take lots of walks. My foster dad is the best because he takes me and the Whiteys on 3 walks a day!

I was diagnosed a few years back with Addison’s Disease, but it is under control and managed with a shot approximately once a month and a pill that I take every other day. My shots are “no big deal” and I take my meds right in my food. I will need a forever family who is willing to continue this medical treatment.
I like to romp in the yard, take walks, and love to play with toys. Oh yeah, I also love to be in the kitchen over-seeing & smelling whatever is cooking! I have my own bed with a brand new comfy blanket and sleep in it every night. The whiteys share their beds with me and we sometimes nap on them together. I am quite polite and don’t jump up on the couch or chairs unless I’m invited. I do love to cuddle on the couch with my foster parents and my new Westie friends, so I’m really glad that I’m invited up there!

If you’re looking for a handsome (my foster mom thinks so) boy who is low-key and just happy to be with people and other dogs, then get in touch with LSWR and put in an application . . . . and DON’T FORGET to mention my name, PIPER!

Magnificent Molly – ADOPTED

This beautiful soon to be 12 year old female Westie named Molly is looking for her furever home.

Molly’s first Mom became ill and had to live in a nursing home.  Unfortunately, she passed away and She was the only family Molly had ever known.  Molly ended up living on her back porch and being checked on, fed and walked by neighbors.

A kind woman heard about Molly’s situation and took her in.  Molly has been in her home for four months now.   Molly’s new Mom also has a small Doxie and Molly thinks she is small prey so her hunting instincts kick in and she stalks the small dog.  Molly’s new Mom has made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her to LSWR so we can find her a home that fits her needs better.

Molly is up to date on all of her vaccinations and is spayed.  She has dry eye in her right eye which will require eye drops for the rest of her life.

She walks well on a leash and knows how to use a doggie door, too.

Molly has never been around children or cats.  She must be the only pet in the household.

If you are looking for a loyal, loving companion that you can devote your time to, Molly is your girl!  Hurry and get your adoption application to LSWR (lswr.us)

Riley – Adoption Pending

Update:

Riley has made an amazing recovery since coming to LSWR. His hair has grown back nice and thick and his skin has cleared up, he’s quite the healthy boy. He is a very sweet, loving 10-year old Westie who loves to play chase with his Westie foster brothers. He loves daily walks and squeaky toys. He gets so happy to greet you when you get home and treats you like the most important person in the world. Riley has a great personality, loving, gentle and just a sweetheart. He sleeps soundly in a crate or the bed. One thing we can say with absolute confidence is that Riley is a dog that truly appreciates being rescued. He is a perfect foster pup and we know he’s going to bring lots of joy to his new family.

Hi, I’m Riley. Seven years ago, my family adopted me and during that time things changed.

Sadly, my family’s circumstances got to the point where they could no longer take care of me and didn’t have the time for me that I deserved so they did the right thing and called Lone Star Westie Rescue to see if they would find me a new home.

Lone Star Westie Rescue was more than glad to take me in to their rescue program and quickly arranged for me to go to foster care.

Because of lack of medical care, I have major hair loss on my legs and some loss of hair around my eyes. My foster mom, Linda, took me to the vet right away. The vet said I needed to have medicated baths twice a week and gave Linda pills that I had to take to keep me from itching. Foster mom Linda told me not to worry, that she and Lone Star Westie Rescue would bring me back to good health and I will be as handsome as ever. You can see a couple of pictures of me below with all my beautiful hair and I’ll be looking like that very soon. My hair is growing back on my chest and legs and I’ll be ready for a grooming soon.

I’m a very sweet, loving 10 year old who loves to play chase with my two Westie foster brothers. I also love my daily walks and squeaky toys. I’m 90% house trained and sleep in a crate at night.

I’m looking for a home with people who will shower me with love and attention and I will give you the love right back! And if I get a brother or sister, that’s awesome too!

Are you ready for a loyal companion to share your life and home with? If so, that’s me. Hurry get your adoption application completed and returned to Lone Star Westie Rescue.

XOXO
Riley

Gracie Adopted!

I’m Gracie and I want to tell you all about me! My human mom got sick and could no longer take care of me, so her family reached out to LSWR and they gladly stepped in to bring me into foster care.

I am 12 years and very inquisitive. My foster mom is always looking for me around the house! I get along great with the other Westies in my foster home. I weighed 8.9 pounds when
I arrived but I’m up to 13.9 pounds now and looking pretty good!

I’m spayed, vaccinated and recently had a dental and had 8 teeth pulled. I just want a low- key family to spend the rest of my life with and I promise to love you to pieces. I’m so very sweet and my foster mom tells me I’m a beautiful girl. I may not have the best hearing, but I have a very good nose, I can smell snacks, a mile away. I’m also working on my potty skills as they regressed a little when my human mom got sick. I would love a family who works from home, is semi-retired or better yet fully retired. I know it will be love at first sight!

If you are looking for a sweetheart of girl who is very grateful for her second chance, then I am your gal.

Wally is Available for Adoption! ADOPTED!

Hello, my name is Wally and I’m a Cairn Terrier!

After being found on a busy street, LSWR rescued me from the local shelter and found me a relaxing foster home to live at until I find my forever family! I’m about 3 years young and weigh in at a light 13 pounds, which makes me a perfect size for snuggling on someone’s lap. I am also vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.

It took me a while to get used to my foster parents, but now that I trust them, I absolutely love spending time with them. My favorite activity is licking my foster mom and dad’s toes when they get home from work, even though they think it’s “gross”. While I have a very loving personality 99% of the time, I do sometimes struggle with aggression (usually when a human tries to take my toy). For the last few months, I’ve been working with a trainer to iron out some of these issues, and now I’m doing so much better! However, it would still be best if I live in a home without small children.

I would really love a family who will take the time to get to know how sweet and smart I am. Once I get to know someone, I love them from the very bottom of my heart! I also need a family that is willing to be patient while getting to know me, and be willing to follow-through with my training for years to come. If I sound like the right boy for you, please complete an adoption application. I know my right family will come along.

Charming Charlie! Adopted!

Introducing Charming Charlie!

Hi folks! I’m Charlie and I’m brand new to LSWR.  I was picked up as a stray and taken to a shelter who reached out to LSWR.  My face looked “Westie-ish” so they labeled me a Westie mix and here I am! I may not have all of the Westie traits, but I have a great disposition and am so very sweet.

I am about 4 years old, shots are current, microchipped and neutered. I walk great on my leash and I get along fine with the resident Westies in my foster home.  I even ride great in the car on road trips.  I did great with my bath and a mini-grooming to clean up my face.

So far, my foster mom says I am potty-trained and a super sweet foster.  The only thing she’s noted is that I might be a little escape artist and find a way to try to escape but she has her eye on me.  That could explain how I ended up a stray but no one ever came looking for me.

I am looking for a wonderful family to call my own, and I promise you will love me at first sight. I would be fine in an apartment or a home with a secured fenced in yard. The shelter even said I was fine with the resident cats so you see, I’m all that and a bag of chips!  All I need is a really super family for super cute little me.

XOXO

Charlie

Darling Daisy – Adopted

My name is Daisy Mae and I am a beautiful Westie girl looking for a wonderful family to adopt me.  My world just turned upside down because my Mom recently passed away and I’m very sad.  My Mom’s family reached out to LSWR in hopes of finding me another wonderful home.  My mom was the only family I have ever known and she took excellent care of me!!

Here’s a little bit about wonderful me.  I just turned 9 years April 2018 and I’m in excellent shape.  I’m spayed, vaccinated, and just had a dental in February.  I am a very playful and very loving gal and love to greet everyone I meet.  I like to sleep in my crate and I have full roaming privileges because I’m very well mannered.  I like to play with toys and I ride well in the car.  I have great experience walking on a leash but don’t let me off leash because I’ll be in the next county!!  I love older children and love playing with them.

Since I’ve grown up being the only Westie in the home, I would prefer a home where I would still be the one and only pup in the house.  I would love to have a nice fenced in backyard and a family who has time to love and spoil me.  Trust me, I will play and play if you have the time.

If you think I’m your gal, submit an online application.  I will be on the lookout for your application, so send it in soon!

XOXO

Daisy Mae

Toodles – **Adopted!**

Hi everyone, my name is Toodles, I know funny name for a girl right but it fits me just right.  Not sure why I ended up in a local shelter, I have a microchip but I guess no one wanted me. I huddled in the back of cage, waiting and waiting. The shelter contacted LSWR to see if they’d help an 11-year old girl like me. And then suddenly I heard someone tell me that it was going to be okay because LSWR wanted me and they would find me a great home!

As you might guess, I am not a Westie….I may be a Wheaten Terrier mix. I am a super happy girl and when I get excited to see you, I wiggle my tush & nubby tail. The vet staff said I was super sweet and a very healthy girl.

I am estimated to be 11 years, spayed, microchipped and my shots are current.  If you are looking for a sweetheart of a girl who is very grateful for her second chance, then I’m the one. I am house trained and walk great on a leash.  I love to hang with humans and just lay on the floor by your feet.  I’m easy going, laid back and love going for walks. I’m in a foster home with a Westie gal and a male Westie/Schnauzer and I’m doing okay with them but I would really enjoy a home where I’m the only pet.

Please visit lswr.us, complete an application and ask for Toodles. Hope to hear from you soon!

XOXO
Toodles

Wrigley – **Adopted!**

Hi everyone, Wrigley here,

I was found as a stray and no one came for me at the shelter but I happily joined the LSWR family about one week ago. The shelter listed me as a terrier mix so LSWR said “Hey Wrigley, come and stay with us and we will find you a new home”. Wow, this sounded great!

I was all raggedy & matted when I arrived at the vets but I had the best spa day ever!! Come to think of it, I think I heard them say, Wrigley, we think you might be a Poodle Terrier. Who cares, I’m in great hands now and I know I’m going to find a great home.

In the past week, I got a vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and a new haircut. I’m heartworm negative, young and healthy, so I’m as good as new.

The vet staff at Josey Ranch adored me and said I was super sweet, just like the chewing gum. I am one of the happiest, easy going and sweetest pup that you could ever meet. I’m estimated to be 2 years young, maybe a tad younger, appear to be potty-trained, love to ride in the car and romp in the great outdoors. My foster mom agrees that I’m a young pup because I love to nibble on her hands and toys, but I am not a chewer. I am doggie friendly, sleep in my crate, walk great on a leash and come when called – what more is there?

If you have room in your family for a boy like me, visit lswr.us and send in your application. I’ll warm your heart and make you smile.

Love Wrigley,

Fabulous Frankie **ADOPTED!**

Meet Frankie, an adorable 10-month old male Westie.  He is all puppy, very active, playful and very smart.  Frankie came to rescue because his family didn’t have the time to devote to a puppy.  Thankfully, they called LSWR.  Frankie loves other Westies, treats and stuffed toys.  He is neutered and micro-chipped. He is 95% potty-trained and sleeps in his crate.

He will need a home without small children under the age of 8 years and no cats.   He also needs a fenced in yard so he can run and play.  He would thrive in a home with another dog his size and age range that can keep up with a Westie puppy.

If you have the time to devote to Frankie, please visit lswr.us and complete an online application.

Please note:  we do NOT ship our pets.  If you have a pool, LSWR requires you have a fence around the pool for a safe environment for a puppy.

LSWR does NOT have a shelter, all applicants need to be approved before meeting a foster.
