Two Best Friends… meet Billy Bob & Rosie! **ADOPTED**

BB & Rosie’s Happy Tail!

Happy Monday from the happiest couple around! We, BB & Rosie, are on cloud nine! We had the best road trip to our new fur-ever home and are L-O-V-I-N-G it in Kansas City, MO! The surroundings suit us, don’t you think? Our new Mom, Dad & Sister love their new cute twinkies, and we sure do love them back! Just look at our first family photo! Papa Larry said that Mama Judy got all of the kisses on the car ride home ONLY because he was busy driving. 🙂 Papa Larry also said that this is a true fairy tale ending… we are all going to live happily ever after!

BB & Rosie

We’re the two best friends anyone could ever have… Billy Bob & Rosie!

The last year has been tough on us. We survived a flood last year by floating on a mattress with our other best friend, Mom, until we were rescued, but now she has become too ill to care for us. We are 8 & 12 years old, and Mom has loved and cared for us every second of those years. We will miss being with her very much, but we still have each other and are currently on our way to the DFW area to settle in and begin our search for our new fur-ever home together!

More to come on our move!

Meet Max! **ADOPTED**

Happy tails for Max!

Handsome Max here!

Thank you all so much for the overwhelming response of love and care for me! I am so happy to let everyone know that I have a new furever home… that includes a ranch and HORSES! I’ve already jumped right in to help feed the horses, and I love exploring my yard! Thanks so much to my Austin parents, Al & Pam, for helping me find my way to Kristen & Vincent… and my new sister, Roxy! They loved me right away… and I loved them, too!

I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my new family on the ranch!

Hi friends! My name is Max, and I am 12 years young! I had an owner since I was a puppy, but she got sick a long time ago and family members were suppose to take care of me. Sadly, one day they decided to take me to a shelter outside of Austin. The shelter staff rallied to contact a rescue to take me in and here I am!!

Quickly, my Austin foster family stepped in to go get me and take me to the vet. My fur was matted and covered with burrs, but my loving LSWR foster family gently removed them all and then bathed me. Since then, I’ve had a haircut and I feel GREAT! I am currently taking meds for an ear infection, a skin infection and an eye ointment, but as you can see from the pictures, I’m looking pretty handsome and feeling SO much better. I will have a dental in the very near future.

I’m taking daily walks with my foster Westies and even shedding some pounds. My foster family says I have a very sweet disposition and am very easy going and low maintenance. I get along great with dogs. I will be just fine with other pets or even if it’s just me by myself, I’m okay with that too. I would like a family who has time to spend with me, who will love me unconditionally, and never abandon me again!!

If you fit the bill, I would love to hear from you.

I Love Lucy **ADOPTED**

Hi friends!

I’m Lucy, and I have to tell you that there really and truly are good people in the world! I’m 13 years young, and my family split up recently. It was a really hard transition for everyone, and I wasn’t quite getting the attention a cute Westie girl needs. My family did their best but eventually decided I would be happier in another home with lots and lots of time devoted to me. Enter… Lone Star Westie Rescue! My awesome Austin, TX foster fam, Pam & Al, took me right into their home! Now enter… Papa Todd and Mama Leslie! Mom and Pop were out of town and hadn’t had a chance to meet me yet, but when LSWR told them about me, they wanted me instantly. Even though I have some health issues, they just knew in their hearts that I was the perfect addition to their family. My awesome Austin family brought me to DFW where I met and fell in love with Papa Todd and Mama Leslie… and, I even have two new Westie sisters, Chloe & Roxy!

I’m happy to say… and they all lived happily ever after!

Hugs & kisses,

Friday news from Scout! **ADOPTED**

Happy Friday, y’all! Scout here to tell you that after being rescued in 2013, I’ve found my FUR-ever home… with the ones who saved me! That’s right – I’m so much fun (you might say I’m the life of the party…) and my Westie brother, Oliver, and I are such best buds now, it would be silly for me to be anywhere else! I’ve also learned this trick that made Mama Ann fall head over heels for me – turn your head from side to side like you know EXACTLY what she’s saying and you’re golden! I basically get a new tennis ball (my favorite!) every time I do it. Oliver is totally on board with the game.
Enjoy your weekend, guys… I know I will!

Read all about it! By “it” I mean me, Jack! **ADOPTED**

I am one lucky fella and want to tell you all about it! My foster mom, Dru, and my foster sister, Emma, have supported me and loved me through my first round of heartworm treatment. I’m getting ready for my second round of treatment and guess what – they love me SO much, they want to support me through this one too and keep me FUR-ever! I am thrilled to be a full time part of this family! Emma has taught me how to truly relax, and it’s something we practice often. Mama Dru tells me I’m a “true joy.” I need to tell her… the joy I display is a result of the love she has shown me!

May I Introduce… Me! Marley! **ADOPTED**

Guys! It’s Marley! This is the best Sunday Funday ever! It’s my last night to spend at the vet – they tell me my respiratory infection is all better and my skin infection will be better in no time, too, which means no more of these bad hair days (yes- boys have bad hair days too)! Sooooo… I get to go to my new foster family tomorrow! I had a tough time a couple of weeks ago – I was found inside a vacant house. I was a little scared (and bored!), but some nice people came to get me, fixed me right up and now I’m going to be loved on me and receive lots of lavish presents. Ok, the presents are squeaky toys. All of my doctors and visitors tell me I have the most beautiful pearly white teeth (check out the pictures – I even smiled for them!), I listen intently when they tell me stories, AND I’m potty trained at the spry age of 3 years old, too (yeah – they tell me I’m the whole package – smart and sweet)!

They’re doing this thing called “neutering” in a couple of weeks (I’ve been assured everything will be okay), and then I will be ready for my FUR-ever home! I can’t WAIT for the adventure the next few weeks holds for me! Call me!

Update From Miss Pearl! **ADOPTED**

Hi fellow Westie friends! Pearl here! Happy Friday to you! Well, actually, every day is a happy day for me! I wanted to tell you about my new life and fabulous family! They spoil me rotten, and I LOVE IT! Can you say spa days, hair days, dress up and relaxing weekends at the lake house? Not to mention my golf cart rides…

I’ve had to teach my family a thing or two about fishing, which includes not getting wet or dirty, and they seem to be getting the hang of it. After fishing and play-chasing the rabbits (I really only want to play!), I cozy up and take a nap anywhere I want. I’m truly one blessed little girl!

****Huck has been ADOPTED into his FUR-EVER HOME!****

Huck’s Happy New life:

Well folks today was a great day in the life of this Huckleberry Finn (aka Huck)! I am no longer a wanderer thanks to the LSWR rescue program & my foster family! I had two Westie brothers to show me the ropes of living in a home, getting healthy & what a loving family means to those of us living on the streets.

And life got better than imagined when my new parents wrote to LSWR & said they wanted ME to join their family! Now I have two awesome parents & two fur-sisters! I will have many new adventures and a wonderful new life! Just look at all of us…Happy 2016 to ME!!!

xoxo Huck

Huck Capture Huck Capture1

My name is Huck and I am a 10 year old neutered male Westie.  Animal Control found me wandering the streets and took me to the shelter and while I waited patiently, my owners never came for me.  My heart was broken but then an LSWR volunteer came for me immediately and brought me home.

I am an easy-going happy guy. I came in on the thin side but have gained some weight.   I am very friendly and love my foster parents and other dogs. I am potty trained and very well mannered.   I must admit, I’m quite a perfect gentleman.  I’m neutered, current on my shots and microchipped.   A lovely home with a yard and some furry doggie friends would be “pawsitively” awesome!

I am just about the cutest and sweetest guy you could ever hope to meet. All I need is a new forever home to make my new life complete.

So if you think you are my special family, complete an online application and ask for me.

Bella’s Happy Tail

I’ve come a long way in just over two weeks since I arrived in foster care but it looks like “everything’s coming up roses” for me.  I was adopted by Kay and she is positively the most perfect Mom in the whole world.  She will be patient and understanding & I love that she loves me just the way I am.  I am finally home.

Happy & Thankful, Bella

Digby’s Happy Tail!

Hi Everyone, it’s Digby here!

What a great photo with me and my new mom, Polly. My new dad Nick, had a morning military duty and couldn’t be there to pick me up. But when I got home, he spent the afternoon enjoying the back patio with me on his lap! Woo hoo, two loving people and two laps for me is a dream come true! July 4th weekend and I put the white in their “red, white and blue” weekend, and they helped me regain my independence with my very own family again! I’m one happy camper!

Thank you from the bottom of my big doggie heart to everyone who has helped me along my journey!

Happy Tails to everyone & Happy 4th to all,

Molly’s Happy Tail

Molly HT1 Molly HT2

I’ve come a long way looking for my forever home and I found it with Vickie & James. They are a Cairn savvy Mom & Dad, who wanted to give me that special home that I was looking for. I’m living it up in Colorado now and have a Westie playmate to hang with. I am doing great in my new home and wearing myself out chasing squirrels. My mom and dad say I’m such a good girl; they just can’t thank my foster family, Mary & Stephen Braddock, enough for all they did for me. I came very close to losing my life at the shelter in December 2014 due to my skin issues but look at me now. Thanks to my foster family, LSWR and all the volunteers, I’ve been given a new wonderful life.

XOXO Molly

Yuki – Adopted

Yuki Finds Her Furever Home:

Yuki's family

My life could not have turned out better. It was love at first sight! I was adopted by the most fabulous family in the world. My new family said I was just the one they were looking for to take care of me. They said I am the most special Westie ever and I would have to agree!

Not only do I get to go on many walks every day, but my back yard is like my own private doggie park where I can run around til my hearts content. I have a furry sister who is showing me the ropes of my new home. I easily moved right in because I knew this is where I belong.

Thank you everyone who helped me along my journey, especially my LSWR foster families…who took care of my every need. I will be having my eye surgeries in the next few weeks so please do keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you LSWR from the bottom of my heart, Yuki

Chip’s Happy Tail

Dodger (Chip) is living up to his name… He is Artful indeed!  He showed us just today that if we leave bags next to the bar stools, he will climb up to get to the dog treats. He also taught us that if we leave a chair pulled out, he will jump up on the table and walk around. But, he also showed us that he loves to curl up on a pillow and take a nap with his baby. He goes back and forth between the baby he got at Cathy’s house, and the green alligator. He is such a perfect fit for our family!

Grace’s Happy Tail

My Christmas wish came true and I was adopted by a great couple.  I can’t thank my foster family enough for all the great TLC they provided me.  They nursed me through after my surgery and then a dental. I was their first foster and they said I was just the most perfect little Westie girl.  I really liked my foster buddy, Deuce and he was a great Westie role model.

Thanks to LSWR and my wonderful foster family, Pam, Al & Deuce for saving me and giving me a wonderful start to a great New Year!!

Jackson Finds His Furever Home:

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA PEOPLE! Look at what happened to me. Ba Bam. Okay, here it is the short version of my story. I’m walking along on a blistering hot day and giant man hands scoop me up and I end up in air conditioning, but there is a bunch of wire cages in the place. I watch day after day as all the good looking dogs are adopted one after another. Then I hear someone say that I might not make it and Ba Boom someone scoops me up, again, and drives me off to a place called Lone Star Westie Rescue where a whole bunch of people like me and kiss me and let me poo in their yards and a bunch of other stuff. Then I meet Gilbert and Brad and I’ll be darned if they don’t have one of those LSWR dogs. They take me in and treat me just like part of the family. Not like a step-dog, but a real full blooded Westie dog. At this point, I am thinking, “Jackson, you should put on the charm and stay in this place – BA Bam.” I hone my charm on Mr. Gilbert and just about the time I get him convinced to drop his guard and make me a permanent fixture along comes this lady with hugs like you have never imagined. WHOA! Come to find out she was lost, too. But, luckily she found her way to Texas and came to see me. At this point, I am panting so hard and I have to tell Mr. Gilbert that Ms. Anita needs me and I’m gonna have to move on. With many tears, hugs and kisses I leave my mans and I am adopted by my new furever family. And, guess what? BA BAM SHALAM! I have a new brother! His name is Skye and he can’t hug like my new mom, but boy he can run and roll. I think I might have landed in heaven. To top everything off with a sweet slice of squirrel frosting mummy is going to volunteer with all those great peeps over at Lone Star Westie Rescue so I might get to see my mans again soon. Whew, what a journey. Thanks everyone for the help.

P.S. I’m still in shock in the first picture and I posted a pic of my new brother. Ba Bam!

Cassie’s Happy Tail

ht_cassie201 ht_cassie202

One thing you can always count on with a Westie is tenacity. Therefore, it is no surprise that here at Lone Star Westie Rescue we feel like Cassie was holding out – determined to wait for that perfect family. But, who could blame her. Once you’ve been fostered at the wonderful home of Mary and Stephen, you pretty much get picky about your future. Cassie’s new family is beaming with joy that Cassie decided to rescue them. It’s been reported that Cassie will soon be sporting her OU t-shirt in time for the Texas/OU weekend. That’s a little hard to swallow for “us” Texas fans, but we look forward to seeing Cassie help her family root on the Sooners. We have no doubt that her “furever” family will adjust quickly to her love and devotion.

Again, we want to remind everyone that North Texas Giving Day is quickly approaching. On September 18th we will be sending out a link that will direct you to the North Texas Giving Day website where you can make a donation to Lone Star Westie Rescue

Rooney a/k/a “The Heart Thief”

20140828_110623 20140828_110619

Rooney stole the heart of Lone Star Westie Rescue volunteers and now he has gone and done it, again.

He has a new “furever” family and many new friends and neighbors to go along with them. We hear that he was greeted throughout the day by his new social network and that his basket full of toys grew substantially throughout the afternoon. We are calling this the beginnings of being spoiled, but Rooney prefers the term charisma.

He chose to rescue a family that lives on Lake Granbury and is anticipating his life as a boat dog once the rains come. We all hope for that soon. In the meantime, he has a golf cart to ride in that will help him develop his sea legs. “The Heart Thief” will have all kinds of new adventures.

Lone Star Westie Rescue volunteers said that, although they left a piece of their hearts with Rooney, it made it a lot easier knowing he is in great hands and will be loved.

Cheers to you Rooney, cheers to you.

Duffy & Samantha IMG_1892

The good news just keeps pouring in. We are pleased to report that Mr. Duffy charmed his way into a new “furever” home. He has a new fur-sister and a full human staff to care for his every need. It’s been reported that Mr. Duffy has spotted many toys throughout the Palace and his personal chef is providing him with high quality nutrition so he will have the required energy to patrol his lands. Squirrels in the area have been notified of his arrival and we hear that there has been a mass exit of the little creatures.

Mr. Duffy is forever grateful to his all the volunteers at Lone Star Westie Rescue and especially to his foster mum who saw the Prince beneath the fur.

Here is another happy tail about a special little boy that came into Lone Star Westie Rescue very timid and shy. With the help of one of our foster families he was able to come out of his shell and learn to trust. His foster mum and dad worked hard to help him learn to trust. It took time before is foster mum said he was ready, but would need a patient and loving home that would give him the space and time needed to reach his full potential. Well, we have received a report from his new “furever” family and we couldn’t be happier to learn of McGee’s new adventures. Below is the report we received from McGee’s “furever” family.

“Here’s an update on McGee. He’s advancing wonderfully. Still shy of new things, but we’ve been working on his fear of men. His Dad has worked diligently with him and he now greets daddy at the door and does a puppy dance for him and asked to be petted by him. McGee hangs out on the couch with his Dad some and even lets our son pet him when he visits. McGee is still a little skittish of noises he doesn’t recognize, but he is doing well on sit, stay, and come commands. He’s learned the fine art of squirrel patrol and his new sis Abby and him chase them on a regular basis. They love sunbathing in the back yard. He’s got a favorite ball, he plays with a lot and does a cute puppy paw dance around it and entertains himself. Abby and him chase each other around the house like a racetrack it’s hilarious. Love’s going on long car rides. McGee and Abby will be taking their first vacation at the beach next month. Can’t wait to see how they like it. We all have been blessed by McGee’s warm and loving heart. He’s an absolute gem.”

Woof’s and Westie kisses
From McGee!

Fluffy’s Happy Tail

What a busy day here at Lone Star Westie Rescue reporting on all our adopted fur babies. We are pleased to report another happy ending and this one is especially a happy tail.

Fluffy was surrendered to Lone Star Westie Rescue last summer at the age of 11. Two of our dedicated volunteers drove to Austin to retrieve Fluffy and her senior brother. Once Fluffy’s “furever” mom took a look at her it was love and Fluffy was taken into her new furever home.

What makes this story special is that Fluffy is now the new therapy dog for Girls To Women Health and Wellness in Dallas, Texas.

What a great ambassador Fluffy is for all the senior dogs out there waiting for their “furever” homes.

You Rock Fluffy!
