Wally

Hello, my name is Wally and I’m a Cairn Terrier! After being found on a busy street, LSWR rescued me from the local shelter and found me a relaxing foster home to live at until I find my forever family! I’m about 2 years young and weigh in at a light 13 pounds, which makes me a perfect size for snuggling on someone’s lap. I am also vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. It took me a few weeks to really get used to my foster parents, but now I LOVE to snuggle with them on the couch while they watch tv and read books!

Like many dogs, I don’t get along with cats, but I like my foster brother (a small Cairn Terrier) a lot, and don’t mind sharing my toys with him. I even let him help me clean up cheese from the floor with my foster mom “accidentally” drops some. I also need a home without children because I sometimes get a little grumpy when humans take away a toy I am playing with.

My foster parents have me on a regular schedule each day (since they insist on going to work), which I like quite a lot. I’m most comfortable knowing exactly when it is time to eat, potty, play, and sleep. I don’t have a lot of grumpy moments these days, but when I do it is usually because my schedule has been thrown off and I am confused. When it is outside time, I love to lay in the grass and soak up the sun. Sometimes I accidentally roll in the grass just after it has been mowed and turn a little green, but I’m a good boy in the bathtub, so my foster mom doesn’t mind! And when it is time for bed, I jump in my crate and wait patiently for my foster mom to get me a little hotdog piece. I’ll do anything for a hotdog (or any other treat, really)!

I would love to find a forever family who will shower me with love and have lots of time to help me grow up. If I sound like the right boy for you, please complete the online application on the LSWR website.

XOXO Wally

King Quincy! **ADOPTED!**

Hi all! Quincy here! When I joined Lone Star Westie Rescue on 10/27/17, I had severe skin, ear and eye infections. I was not feeling my best, that’s for sure.

LSWR quickly got me to their vet for an exam and my vet started me on medications and special dog food that I needed to get healthy again. Then off to foster care I went! My foster family has taken such great care of me, I got the medicated baths I needed, made sure I had my daily meds, took me on long walks in the neighborhood, and gave me tons of love and attention. I have blossomed while I was in their care. My foster mom said I have been the sweetest and bestest Westie housemate she’s ever had. I am so well mannered, potty-trained and I get along great with other dogs. My skin is looking great and my hair is growing back. I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and I also had a dental. I take daily eye drops for dry eye and I’m a champ with those eye drops. I am the most perfect 8 year old Westie one could ever imagine. I am so incredibly sweet and gentle.

I can assure you that I have reclaimed my life and enjoy being that awesome Westie that I was mean’t to be. A Westie without a care in the world, yep that’s me… Quincy!! All I wish for is a really super great family for a super great Westie like me.

XOXO Quincy (aka Little Buddy)

Terrific Taylor! **ADOPTED!**

Hello everyone!

Thanks for checking me out! My name is Taylor. My story is that after 10 years with the same family and being their baby, my owners dropped me at a shelter because they had a human baby and didn’t have time to take care of me anymore. It was a shock, but I didn’t let that get me down! I charmed the shelter people, and they saw what a good boy I am. They contacted LSWR to come and give me a new start. The first thing I did when I saw my foster parents were there to take me home, was give my foster Mom a big hug. She said LSWR will find me a new home where my new family will have lots of love and time for me, which is all I want! I’m so excited, I can’t wait!

Don’t let my age fool you – I am as playful and friendly as a pup, plus cute as a button says my foster Mom. Everyone comments on my gentle and friendly nature and really good manners! I’m fully potty trained, crate trained and very happy go lucky. I walk well on a leash, enjoy car rides, and enjoy playing games. I also enjoy a good cuddle and relaxing together in the evenings when it’s couch potato time. I’m very interested in being a member of a household and work to fit right in with the others and routines. At my foster home, they say it’s like I’ve always been here chasing squirrels, sharing watch dog patrol with my pals, and of course, enjoying snuggle duties for the humans.

The vet’s office gave me lots of praise for being easy to handle and the best guess is that I am a Westie and Schnauzer mix to create this bundle of cuteness that is ME! I’m about 20 pounds and my fur is very soft, which my foster Mom says just adds even more to my snuggle appeal!

So as soon as I get finished with my teeth cleaning and vetting, I’ll be ready to dedicate my time and attentions to a new family who wants a best friend like me. If you’re interested, please contact them at LSWR so we can meet each other soon!

If you’d like to meet me, just complete the application on this site and mention your pal, “Taylor”!

XOXO,

Taylor

Joplin and Jagger! **ADOPTED!**

Hi everyone!

We’re new to Lone Star Westie Rescue. My name is Joplin! And I’m Jagger!

We’ve been together all 6 years of our lives and need a new home where we can stay together. Our mom became ill and had to go to a nursing home, so Lone Star Westie Rescue was called upon to find us a new, loving “forever” home.

Excuse me just a minute… Joplin wants to ask me a question on her behalf:

“Jagger, some people call me bossy. Do you think that’s true?”

“Well, Joplin, you definitely want to be the alpha dog of the family, but I’m ok with that because I have a very laid back personality.”

Needless to say, we do best in a home where there’s just the two of us! Oh, and no cats please!

We are spayed and neutered, microchipped, and up to date on our vaccinations. We are house-trained and walk on a leash. The perfect combo!

Westie hugs,

J&J

Skittles aka Dallas **ADOPTED!**

Hey, everybody! You know me as Skittles, but I have a new name now–it’s Dallas.
When I came to Lone Star Westie Rescue, I had severe skin, ear and eye infections. I was not feeling my best, that’s for sure.
LSWR quickly got me to their vet for an exam and she put me on the medications and special dog food that I needed to get healthy again.
Then off to foster care I went! My foster parents, Lauren and Jim , took such good care of me.They gave me the medicated baths I needed, made sure I had my daily meds, took me on long walks in the neighborhood, and gave me tons of love and attention. I blossomed while I was in their care.
Next thing you know, LSWR posted my story on their social media and a wonderful family fell in love with me and adopted me this week!
Their previous Westie went to the Rainbow Bridge last Fall and they were looking for a new furkid to love. They wanted me!!❤️
I am living a great life now; I’m the only furkid in the home so I get all the family’s love and attention and I get to sleep in the big bed with them and I have a fishing dock in my back yard. Boy, do I love rolling around in dead fish if I find them! Mom says I shouldn’t do it, but it’s so much fun!
I know I will be forever loved and taken care of.
Big Westie hugs and kisses to my foster family, Lauren and Jim. Thank you for getting me on the road to recovery!
Thank you to LSWR for rescuing me and thank you to my new family for giving me a second chance at life.

XOXO, Dallas

Just Jack! **ADOPTED!**

Now presenting…… Just Jack!

Jack is a bunch of awesome in a small package! He has a sweet disposition and is absolutely loving life! He is between 1 – 3 years old (probably closer to the younger side based on his puppy behavior!). While Jack is working on becoming the perfect companion, he will need some consistency in his home… he knows how to “work the system” and take advantage of any change in the rules.🙂 He is very smart and easy to correct; however, he is a terrier, after all!

Jack has a very soft coat that will need regular grooming. He loves to be by your side regardless of the activity. Want to go for a walk – ok! Want to rest a bit – works for him!

Jack is good with children but should be in a home with kids who understand how to respect and treat animals. Jack does guard resources (toys and food) from other dogs. He gets along well with other dogs but does like to slightly dominant. It is important that Jack and any other dog companions understand their humans are the top dogs – not them.

Jack can be a bit of an escape artist… he is learning to wait patiently at the door to go outside. He also knows how to use a pet door and can be trusted in the house if given access to the doggie door.

Jack is an active, young dog that is interested in learning new things. If you are looking for a great dog interested in being an active part of your life, Jack is the companion you’ve been looking for!

Please visit us online at www.lswr.us to complete an application for Jack!

Thank you!

Dainty Dottie! **ADOPTED**

Dottie update 8.30.17

When I arrived at LSWR, I was in terrible shape.  I had ear and eye infections and my skin and coat were in bad shape.  Despite not feeling well, the entire vet staff said I was so very sweet and such a trooper to go through all the vetting exams.  Fast forward to today and take a good look at me now!

My infections are pretty much gone and my coat is coming back.  It is amazing what TLC, medicated baths, excellent vet care, and a healthy diet can do for a gal like me.  Now that I’m better, I’m going to have a dental very soon.  Then it won’t be long before I join a very lucky family to call me their very own.  You won’t believe how incredibly sweet I am until you meet me.  I am a very happy girl and very soon I’m going to make a family VERY HAPPY!

XOXO Dottie

This post is about a new intake named Dottie. Dottie won’t be writing this post herself 🙂, her foster mama is going to! I’m taking this one over because Dottie wouldn’t do herself justice and compliment herself as profusely as I am about to!

I had the pleasure of welcoming Dottie into my home this past Friday, and I must say – she may be the sweetest, most gentle Westie I have ever met.

Dottie is a Westie/Poo mix. Unfortunately, her owner became unable to properly take care of Dottie, so she surrendered her to LSWR. Dottie is 8 years old, potty trained, is comfortable with a crate (though she loves to sleep in bed and snuggle!), walks like a perfect little lady on a leash and she is great with other dogs once they’ve established who gets to be the alpha! She’s a playful girl (loves playing with her foster brother & sister) and adores belly rubs, as you’ll see from the pics!

Dottie does currently have some skin/allergy issues that are being addressed. She has already started medication to clear up her belly area and let some of that soft, white fur grow in! In just a few days, she is looking 10 times better!

If you’re ready for your furever buddy, Dottie is ready for you!

Please complete an application at www.lswr.us and mention “Dottie”!
Thank you!

Gentle Jazzie **ADOPTED!**

Jazzie update 8.30.17

We want to share some wonderful news on Jazzie.  Fast forward to today and Jazzie has made great improvements.  As you can tell from her recent pictures, her skin is healing her hair is growing back.  She loves her foster buddy, Scout and loves to run along with him chasing birds, squirrels and anything that steps foot in their year.

We are grateful Jazzie has made a remarkable recovery and continues making daily progress.  LSWR will cater to all her needs and show her the love and kindness she so deserves.  Jazzie is going to make a great Westie companion to a very special family.

We are relieved that Jazzie is now in our foster care program where she will get everything she needs.  Her owner’s life crumbled right before her very eyes, and it is apparent Jazzie spent her life in a neglectful situation.

Jazzie spent her first first five days with LSWR getting vetted, receiving good meals and medicated baths.  She is now in her foster home with two Westie companions, who are helping her feel right at home.  Despite her neglectful past, Jazzie is a very sweet Westie.  She gets very excited on her evening walks and keeps up with her Westie pals.  She is running and barking along with her foster buddies and loves to come home to get her spa baths.  She is a doll!!  She allows her foster mom to soak her for 10-15 minutes in the medicated baths, never complaining or even trying to get out of the tub.  We believe Jazzie will make a full recovery as she is making daily progress.  LSWR will cater to all her needs and show her the love and kindness she so deserves.

Jazzie is spayed and estimated to be about 10 years.  Once we get her skin issues under control, she will receive a much needed dental.  Please stay tuned for more updates on her progress.

Welcome to rescue life Jazzie – you are a sweet and gentle survivor!

Jolly Jezzy! **ADOPTED**

Introducing Jolly Jezzy!

My name is Jezzy and I am a 10 year old, spayed female Westie. I came to rescue because my loving mom of 10 years is moving to a memory care facility. She and I have lived together since I was 8 weeks old. She has taken great care of me. My mom’s family called LSWR in hopes of finding me a new family. You see, they only want the very best for me!

Let me tell you a little bit about me. As you can tell from my picture, I am as cute as a button! I walk great on a leash and love my furry plush/stuffed toys. I can certainly tell you I am a sweet typical Westie girl full of life and Westietude. This girl just wants to have fun! Although, I’m very friendly and I did have a furry companion for years, I think I’d prefer a home without other dogs so I can get all the love and attention to myself. The vet staff said I was very friendly and with the right dog might be okay in a multiple dog house but I am super sweet with people. I’d also like a fenced in yard and a home without children.

I am potty-trained, well-mannered, adorable and healthy. Please visit lswr.us to complete an online application. I am such a catch and I know a great family will snatch me up – I will dance my way into your heart!!

XOXO Jezzy

Poppie the Party Girl! **ADOPTED**

Happy Saturday, everyone!
My name is Poppie, and I’m the cutest, most fun Westie/Maltese mix you’ve ever met!
I was found wandering the streets and landed in a local shelter, but no one came to claim me. So, here I am with LSWR! They said they are so happy to have me in their group!
I am only 3 or 4 years old, so I’m full of energy! I am healthy, happy little girl and as playful as a little puppy. I have a great disposition and get along with all the pups in my foster home. Just call me Poppie the Party Girl!
I must say – I am a very smart girl and am learning my leash and house training quite nicely. I’m very active & fun… and I love to walk, play and snuggle with my foster mom. Oh, did I mention belly rubs? All I have to do is roll over and throw my paws in the air to let the belly rubs ensue! My little floppy ears are the cherry on top and add to my already extraordinary charm!
I am vaccinated, spayed and just had my dental. Unfortunately, I was not given monthly heartworm preventative in the past, so I will start heartworm treatment in a few weeks. My dogtor said I’d be just fine and not to worry. My furever family will need to be located in the DFW area since I’ll be going through heartworm treatment.
I am the perfect companion for a family who has lots of time to spend with me – I’m ready to love & play!
Puppy Kisses!

Gracie Girl! **ADOPTED**

FullSizeRender

Are you looking for a cuddle bug to warm your heart furever? Allow me to introduce myself – I’m Gracie! My mom has made the very difficult decision to return me to Lone Star Westie Rescue so they can find me a new home. It’s nothing I did, her life circumstances have changed and she feels she can’t give me the love and attention I deserve. I’m about 4 years young, up to date on all my vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. I walk on a leash, I’m potty trained and I have grown up with a furry companion.  I’m not too crazy about bikes or skateboards as I try to chase them. My mom says I like to be the queen of the house so I would be okay as an only dog or another furry companion would be okay also but no kids please.  I don’t play with toys too much but I love humans.  As you can see from my pictures, my goal in life is to just have fun!

I have lots of love and cuddles to give to my new family. If you think we would be a match made in heaven, hurry and complete an adoption application for me at www.lswr.us!

Love,
Gracie

Little Lulu!

Greetings, everyone! Lulu here… and I have LOTS to say! So let’s get started talking about ME!

I’m a cute little female Chihuahua/ Westie mix, a year old at the most, and I’m not afraid to admit, I may have a bit of a “napoleon complex” already… there’s no dog out there that will scare me! :-) I love to have all of the attention from my humans, and I’ve had to learn not to steal the attention from my foster siblings.

I am potty trained, love to chew on antlers and have a great time with any and all toys but especially soft, squeaky ones!

Another confession- I LOVE people food, but I’ve been told it’s not great for my health. I’ve had to adjust to common dog food, but it seems to suffice…

An ideal home for me would be me as an only fur-kid with human kids to love and play with me. I have lots of energy and can entertain myself with my toys… but there’s also always a time to cuddle!

I’m doing great with my foster family right now, and LSWR will keep you all updated on my progress.

If you’re interested in this little cutie (ME!), please complete an online application at www.lswr.us and mention Lulu!

XOXO,
Lulu

Katie Girl! **ADOPTED**

Hi! I’m Katie!

I was picked up as a stray and had nowhere to go, but LSWR gladly took me in. I was very scared at the shelter, but the staff at my vet’s office said I was so good letting them examine me. I arrived very dirty with flea & tick critters but after a couple of baths, I’m critter free! I’m a little shy but I have a tender heart and am a very sweet girl. I am about 3 – 4 years young, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Sadly, my prior owner didn’t give me monthly heartworm preventative, so I tested positive for heartworms but my foster mom and Dr. Stewart said I was going to do just fine through the heartworm treatment. From here on out, it’s all looking up for me and my neglectful past is behind me!

I have a gentle soul and enjoy the company of other dogs & my foster mom. I am potty-trained and walk great on a leash. Indoor living seems new to me but I’m getting the hang of being a pampered girl. I was a little timid and shy my first few days in foster care but I’m making daily progress!!

If you have the love and a little patience for me, I know I will steal your heart. Please visit lswr.us and complete an online application.

Love,

Katie

Hello! Ryder here with an update!

I have so much to tell you! The big, big news is (drum roll, please)………

I have a new furever home… AND a new name! You can call me Guinness!

My mom, Tricia, and dad, Bill, love me to pieces. Can’t you tell from these pics?! They give me a lot of love and attention and make sure I have everything I need to live the happiest life. I’ve come a long way from the streets and shelter, that’s for sure!

I want to send big hugs and kisses to my foster moms, Linda and Kay! And thank you to Kim for transporting me to Lone Star Westie Rescue!

Happy Tails!

My name is Ryder but my friends call me Bo. I am a bundle of a super cute Yorkie Terrier mix approximately 14 pounds and estimated to be about 3-4 years young.  I was picked up as a stray and landed in a shelter but thanks to all the LSWR volunteers who got me to Big D.  I am a very healthy happy boy, love other furry friends and I have a charming personality and delightful demeanor, that I know anyone that meets me will fall in love.

My foster Mom says that I am the sweetest boy ever. I’m potty trained, like laps and I am a lovebug. My foster home is great, but I would love to have my very own family.  I’m scheduled to have a dental very soon and that’s it for this cutie patootie.

I am neutered, microchipped & current on my shots and I am ready for you!!

Hugs & kisses, Bo

Elegant Ellie **ADOPTED!**

My name is Ellie! I am a very young and healthy pup, estimated to be about 2 1/2 years old. I’m spayed, microchipped and current on all my shots. Unfortunately, my family’s home life circumstances changed due to children joining the household and they decided to surrender me to LSWR so they can find me a new home.  I must admit the 4 children stress me out.  I had a doggie companion and I got along ok with my furry friend but I must tell you I would prefer to be the only pet.  That’s just how I roll.

I am a cutie patootie and love human companions. I have a wonderful personality, love to play, love being around my people, enjoy playing with squeaky toys, squirrels, I love them all!  I walk great on a leash and I am very well mannered.

I am looking for a loving family who I can shower with love and kisses and a family who has time for me.  I want a family that loves me to pieces!  I am just that kinda girl. I promise to be your best companion and fill your heart with love and laughter. I know I will steal your heart and you will love me FOREVER!! Please visit lswr.us to complete an online application and ask for Ellie.

XOXO Ellie

______________________________________________________

Happy Friday, everyone! My name is Seelie! I’m a playful, spunky girl and I turn 8-years old next month! Up until now, I’ve only known one home with a wonderful mom and dad who took great care of me. I’m spayed, microchipped, up to date on my shots and very healthy. Unfortunately, my mom & dad had to surrender me due to health issues and I found myself taking a road trip with a foster family. I loved riding in the car and it was fun having two foster westies riding along with me. Little did I know I’d be living with them. My first days, I have to admit, I was scared. But I am a very adaptable girl and I fit right into the routine here at my foster home. I love being around my foster fur friends, taking walks, lounging on the couch, playing fetch, and chasing those pesky squirrels in the backyard. I also love to cuddle and give kisses. My foster mom tells me that I have a lot of energy and that I’m a very good girl. I listen well and know a few commands. I have the run of the house when my foster parents are away and I behave exemplary. Check out my pictures – I’m told I’m a cutie! Maybe I’m the cutie for you!

Please ask LSWR about me! I’m ready to start life in my new fur-ever home! Submit an online application at www.lswr.us and mention your girl, Seelie!

XOXO,
Seelie

I can tell you my foster mom says very good things about me & nothing negative!! I am so very sweet and very mindful. I adore people and enjoy the company of other small dogs. I’m a perfect gentleman, 14 pounds, neutered, current on shots and microchipped. I have certainly been loved and well cared for and still have so much love to give. I know I’ll make someone a perfect companion and best friend. I’m on a special diet that help with bladder stones but don’t let that scare you.

Bright Braxton! Adopted

Braxton has come a long way since he joined LSWR in September.  He was very thin when he came into foster care but with the care of our vet we discovered he had a condition called EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency).  EPI is a disease of mal-digestion and mal-absorption, which when left untreated eventually leads to starvation.  We are so very happy to report managing his treatment of supplementation with pancreatic enzymes, has been successfully treated and regulated!!!  Braxton is all Westie and made of tough stuff weighing in now at 18 pounds and looks amazing!!!

He is thriving in his foster home and loves the company of the other Westies.  Braxton will be the first to tell you he loves sharing a comfy recliner with his foster Dad.  He is a very active 10 year old and quite vocal as well, he’s a talker!  He loves to chase after the birds and squirrels and can smell them a mile away.  He loves the great outdoors and knows how to use a doggie door.  He is potty trained, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.  He sleeps in a crate at night and gets along great with pets & loves human companions.  Braxton’s ideal home would be one with a doggie door and a fenced in backyard.

This little guy is sure to nudge his way into your heart and give you his heart forever.  Braxton is a perfect Westie and he is ready for his new family, are you the one?  Please visit lswr.us to complete an online application and inquire about Bright Braxton

XOXO,
Braxton
