North Texas Giving Day 2019

North Texas Giving Day will be here before we know it! This annual fundraiser is critically important to our mission and efforts, and makes up 1/3 of the annual donations LSWR receives… which is a HUGE portion! Quite frankly, we could not accomplish nearly as much without support from this event.  As a reminder – 100% of your donations go directly to these special pups in the form of veterinary care, dental procedures, surgeries, heart worm treatment, medications, vaccines, etc., all the way down to their food while they’re in foster care (and maybe a good toy or two!).

In addition to LSWR’s fostering/adopting initiatives, we also have another program that is very near and dear to our hearts called “Walking Them Home,” which is also fully funded by your donations. In this program, we will take in ANY Westie in need, who may have been discarded by their family for being too old or too sick or too much of a burden. We help them live out their final days, whether it’s one week or one year, with as much love and joy as we can possibly give them. Often times, these angels aren’t able to be adopted out, but that doesn’t stop LSWR from taking them into our care! Sometimes these can be the most challenging cases, as some elderly dogs require expensive medications, regular vet visits, etc. But, the case of the abandoned elderly dog has become far too common for us to ignore, and we are honored to be their source of love and care during their golden years and biggest time of need.

Over the next few weeks, as we get closer to North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, September 19th, we will share some of these stories with you… stories of just of a few of our special babies who have crossed our path over the last year.
